In 2025, stained glass and flat glass design will take centre stage at Bild-Werk Frauenau. The project invites participants to rediscover the oldest art form in glass in all its diversity and modern relevance: between art, craft, and architecture,
in light, colour, and space, through narrative and atmospheric expression.
The project is aimed at stained glass artists, visual artists, and architects, as well as students, companies, and institutions involved in education, museums, and practical implementation — and all those with an interest in the medium. It includes three summer courses with Sofia Villamarin, Amber Hiscott, and Kalina Banka-Kul- ka as part of the International Summer Academy Bild-Werk Frauenau, running from June to August 2025. The project will culminate in a masterclass and a one-day symposium.

October 31, 2025, from 6:00 pm November 1, 2025, 9:00 am – 10:00 pm
At a symposium held at Bild-Werk Frauenau and the Frauenau Glass Museum, we will bring together the experiences of a summer dedicated to stained glass. Keynote presentations and panel discussions will address the preservation of traditional craftsmans- hip, public recognition and visibility, support for emerging talent, and cross-border networking in contemporary stained glass practice.
The goal of RISK & RESONANCE is to explore new perspectives for the future of stained glass in all its diverse forms. Frauenau — the glass heart of the Eastern Bavarian glass region — aims to become a forum and hotspot for stained glass and flat glass art.
